'There is no justification for this tragedy'
Mat MacDonald - co-chair of Better Streets for Birmingham - has reacted to the devastating news a man lost his life in the collision.
"It is utterly devastating that yet again, somewhere in our city, another family is waking up to the most unimaginable grief. Our hearts go out to them and everyone else who has been affected by this horrific collision.
"There is no justification for this tragedy. Birmingham’s streets are not fit for purpose. We do not accept a violent death every two weeks as a price we should pay for people to get around.
"There is an emergency on our streets and more investment is desperately needed to make them safe. We have been demanding action on this for over a year, and yet very little has changed.
"Our local and regional leaders need to set out, as a matter of urgency, how and when they are finally going to get a grip on this, before yet more lives are lost."
