Easy ham recipes! Maple glazed ham is a 5-ingredient glazed ham recipe that makes delicious baked ham for Christmas or Easter dinner! So easy and so tasty!

Maple Glazed Ham Recipe (1)

Ham is probably my favorite of all of the holiday meats. We have turkey for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, and we have ham for Christmas and Easter.

We have pretty much the same meal every time – ham, scalloped potatoes or funeral potatoes, vegetables like green beans or asparagus, andHawaiian sweet rolls or dinner rolls.

I make this maple glazed ham recipe the way my mom taught me to make it. Over the years, I tweaked it a little by adding maple syrup to the simple glaze for a little extra sweetness.

Ingredients

For this ham, you’ll need the ham plus 4 simple ingredients to make the maple glaze.

  • Ham – I like to use a butt or shank portion.
  • Real maple syrup
  • Brown sugar – Light or dark brown sugar will work.
  • Dijon mustard – Stoneground mustard would also work.
  • Cider vinegar

How to make glazed ham

Rinse ham in cold water, and pat dry. Place fat side up in a shallow baking dish or roasting pan.

Bake ham for half the baking time (75 minutes).

Whisk maple syrup, brown sugar, mustard, and vinegar together.

Maple Glazed Ham Recipe (4)

Brush ham with maple syrup mixture. Baste ham with juices regularly throughout remaining baking time.

>>TOP TIP: If ham begins to caramelize too much, tent loosely with aluminum foil.

Let ham continue to bake until it reaches an internal temperature of 140 F. Let ham rest for 10 minutes. Then slice and serve.

Tips

  • If you taste the glaze before you add it to the ham, you’ll notice that it’s a mix of sweet with just a little tang to it.
  • I baste the ham every 15 minutes or so during the last half of the baking time.
  • Resist the urge to add more salt! The juices from the ham add some needed salt to the mix, and the resulting ham is incredibly tasty.

Leftovers and storage

The cooked ham will keep for about 4 days when stored in an airtight container in the fridge. Leftover ham also freezes well, and you can store leftover ham in freezer-safe containers for about3-4 months.

If you find that you want to use the leftover ham in a new way, there are a number of recipes, like baked ham and cheese sliders, slow cookerscalloped potatoes with ham, andcrock pot red beans and rice, that use ham.

Hony is good too, when you do not have maple syrup. But only at the end of cooking.
